WPJA Q3 contest

Won an 11th place for this cool toasting photo of Joni and James. 11th is better than 20th I guess. Tough competition.

WPJA Trash the Dress Contest 5th Place

More exciting news! I won 5th place in the first ever Wedding Photojournalist Association Trash the Dress contest. I feel pretty honored because it seemed like the Polish took this award.

Trashing the Dress is a "post wedding" photo session where the bride and groom take some chances and are not afraid to "trash" the wedding dress. If you are interested, it's really fun and we can make some really AWESOME images. I have really wanted to do some of these session in the RED dirt in Sedona or in Oak Creek. After all, when are you really going to wear your wedding dress again? Saving it for your daughter? Did YOU want to wear YOUR mother's wedding 20-30 year-old gown? I didn't think so.... your dress is made for YOUR event and frankly I'm ready to make the most of it. They actually wash up pretty well. My buddy Matt sometimes calls it the "Wash the Dress" session.

Shoot Q Video part III | Edited and on YouTube, BABY

Shoot Q is a studio software web application that makes my life a lot easier. Shoot Q's magical editors made TWO nice compilation videos of my footage. Find it on their community video site. Upload your own if you use ShootQ. I also embedded the "writing" songs one by Eric Laurits, which is hilarious.

Sedona Cake Couture | Bride's Cafe

If you don't already know, Sedona Cake Couture is one of my favorite vendors. Andrea makes these AMAZING cakes that are also DELICIOUS. Check out a cute photo I took of Andrea delivering a cake in June posted to the Bride's Cafe (a great wedding planning resource blog).

WPJA Third place...YES!

I've been a member of WPJA (wedding photojournalist association) since 2004 and I've placed many times in their quarterly contest, 6th, 8th, 4th (I was robbed)-- you get the idea. However, one doesn't get the blasted gold medallion next to your name unless you win a first, second or third-- kinda like the Olympics (then again, not) THANK YOU Scott and Maureen for walking into perfect light... snap, I got this moment and remember seeing the shadow as I was walking behind them. I thought "BOOYA! Contest entry!" I LOVE real moments like this...this is why I do what I do. I must admit, I haven't been entering much over the last year but now I'm re-energized.
(breathe, my medallion is not there yet, give them a time to update their site)

Style Me Pretty | Main Page Feature!

I'm so humbled and so SO excited to be featured on the main page of Style Me Pretty's blog. Abby, the editor, selects fabulous weddings to showcase so readers can get inspired... so I submitted Joey and Stephen's wedding and she selected it. This makes my day for a couple reasons (1) my marketing skillz have taken a back seat over the last three months due to my little bundle of joy and (2) it always feels good to be recognized.

Thanks to Joey and Stephen for having such a creative wedding.

Style Me Pretty | Little Black Book of Vendors

I was humbled to be asked to join the Little Black Book of vendors, which is hosted by Style Me Pretty. Style Me Pretty is a really cool blog that I follow that has great inspiration for brides on EVERYTHING from colors, dresses, favors to photography... so check it out. I am featured in the Sedona section of the Little Black Book of Arizona.

According to the SMP site, the little black book is "an edited collection of wedding service providers - from mom and pop boutiques to the A-listers. Personally recommended by our closest girlfriend, industry insiders and Style Me Pretty readers, these are three hand-picked listings per category."

Arizona Bride Magazine

My own wedding, yes the one where I am the bride, is being featured in the current Spring/Summer 2007 issue of Arizona Bride. I just got the magazine yesterday and it looks really awesome. Matt and I picked a 1930's and 40's Art Deco theme and guests participated by donning outfits of that era: vintage hats, dresses and shoes were worn. Everyone looked lovely. Additinally, we had a signature drink: the martini (which was quite popular) and we made the invitations and hand-lettered every address with an Art Deco style font. It was an amazing day and we are honored to be featured in Arizona Bride. LaCour photographed our wedding and did an outstanding job documenting life (click here for slideshow). I have to give kuddos to all my vendors, who made all the details come together. Special thanks to Sedona Cake Couture, Thornager's Catering, Kim Duncan Wedding Designs (she made all my crazy ideas a reality), Events by Showstoppers, Destiny's Bride (Monique Luhillier), Donna Shoemaker--the most fabulous make-up artist, and Marzi, without whom, my hair would've been a disaster. I recommend all these vendors very highly, please contact me for more info about any of them. When this posts on the Magazine website, I'll be sure to send the link as the article is really great too!
