Tagged: 8 things you might not know about Cameron

So I've been tagged by Mark at LaCour...here's 8 things you might not know about me.

1. I teach indoor cycling, often times called spinning, twice a week at Flagstaff Athletic Club and have taught spinning for almost 10 years.

2. I raced mountain and road bikes for the University of Georgia for a year or so... before I broke my hand in two places and had to have external pins and a cast for 12 weeks. Now I walk down the steep rocky terrain.3. I was a used car sales consultant at Carmax in Atlanta when I was 19 and won some crazy award for most sold cars in one weekend: 3.5 cars. I got a free pair of Infinity speakers, which I still have. 4. I was practically born sucking my two left fingers, index and whatever the one next to the index is... I kicked that habit at the young age of 18----when I was a FRESHMAN in college.

5. When I graduated from High School my career goal was to be an FBI agent. I entered college at NC State University as a pre-law /criminal justice major, because the FBI hires a lot of lawyers. I lived in Spain for a year, decided that I didn't want a job that didn't include foreign travel and changed my major to Advertising/Photojournalism, the rest is history.

6. In August of 2000, I road my bike 510 miles in 5.5 days from Fairbanks to Anchorage as a part of the Alaska AIDS vaccine ride. I had to raise $4,000 for AIDS vaccine research to go on the trip. I went alone, met so many great people.7. I consider ice cream to be the 5th food group. If you've ever lived with me, or anyone in my immediate family, we eat A LOT of ice cream. Favorite flavors? Green Tea is tied with Mint Chocolate Chip and of course I love anything at Dairy Queen, although mostly I get a small vanilla cone.

8. If I had all the time in the world, I would learn to knit, quilt, sew and do other things to be just like Laura Ingalls Wilder from Little House on the Prairie (quite possibly my favorite TV show of all time) Oh and I love musicals and musical soundtracks.

I think I'm supposed to "tag" other people with blogs, so I tag:

Thais & Trever

Thais and Trever light up when they see one another. Thais put so much heart and soul into this wedding with all her lovely details and incorporated a sense of her Greek heritage into the event...check out that ring. It was an intimate wedding in the Tlaquepaque chapel with a gorgeous reception in the adjacent courtyard on August 11, 2007.

OUT there in Blog land?

Okay, so I know my Dad and Mother-in-Law are probably my #1 fans here in blog-land, but if you are a client or photographer or my Mom or Dad, don't hesitate to post a comment in the comment section. Sometimes I feel like this blog is in vein, so give a shout out otherwise, I'm lonely in this wide world web-ville.

Tomatoes, the Braves & Harry Potter

So I spent practically all day yesterday reading the latest Harry Potter book. I'm looking forward to lunch, when I sit down and read it again. I have to put a timer on or it will be 2 hours before I put it down. When I was a child, I loved fantasy literature, like Roald Dahl (BFG, James and Giant Peach, etc) Harry Potter taps right into that fantasy part of me. It always brings me back to the times when I was 12 and couldn't put a book down for days in the summer-- my sister and I would read all day and night just to finish. Of course, I was reading 200 page books and Kate was reading Camelot at 8 years old....but I digress.

Matt and I also watched the Braves game yesterday. I don't know how it happened but this season I took a liking to our hometown team, the Braves. We get MLB Extra Innings to watch it and I sware, it's the only TV we watch (unless professional tennis is on) I always hated baseball (too much time in front of the tube) until Matt sneakily worked it into our lives. I think he brainwashed me the same way he does when he wants to see *guy* movies... somehow I watched Terminator III in the theatre ????

Oh and later, I'll post a photo of my lovely tomatoes... who says you can't grow fruit in the mountain desert! HA! 60 day growing season, I beat it.

BIGGER IS BETTER, BABY!

Yippie! Thanks to my friend, Sergio, I made some room for bigger images on my blog template... I hope I can figure out a fast easy method of posting them because this involved some html code viewing, which if you don't know how to read (like me), can drive you to crave a martini at 8AM (is this paragraph full of comma splices or what)! This, of course, is why I paid the big bucks for my website, and essentially I have a website that is so user-friendly, it should win an award. So far, I'm not willing to hand over the cash for a blog with bling, but one never knows sometimes you need to spend money to avoid paying Uncle Sam. Please let me know if you have problems viewing my blog now. I don't want people to have to scroll left and right on their screen to read it.

Jaime & Ryan

July usually brings rain showers in the afternoon, but mother nature knew better than to mess with 7-14-07! I enjoyed seeing these families mingle-- for one thing, I haven't had a full Jewish wedding complete with a Ketubah signing before, so that was pretty unique and not to mention how BEAUTIFUL the Ketubah turned out. I also love the Jewish tradition of allowing the parents stand up close with the bride and groom as their ceremony unfolds. The toasts that were given at this wedding had me wiping tears away -- everyone from the fathers' to the bride herself we so eloquent and well spoken. It was a joyous occasion and I wish Jaime and Ryan the best of luck. View Slideshow here.

Kate- the Hotshot

Kate after a 3 day "roll"

My sister Kate, is a wildland firefighter. They are called "hotshots," and this is what she looks like after a 3 day trip into the smoky wilderness... and then after... cleans up pretty well if you ask me. I plan to photograph her more in the future but I'm working on access. I'm proud of her for choosing to do such a bold job. It's amazing what she does. She is currently driving to Montana for a fire up there.

P.S. Kate is not really that much taller than me, she's got on heels and I'm in flats.

Cape Cod

We left D.C. and flew to Cape Cod for a week with my family. The week got by and we didn't do a family photo. I know! I know! I did take some photos of my niece and nephew, Karolyna and Tim. The last image is my cousin Rob and Lynne's baby, Nicolas.

Dave and San

Dave and San had a fabulous celebration urban style: downtown Portland with the reception only a few steps away at the Oregon Historical Society. Matt shot with me and we had great weather and great light. View slideshow here
